This beginner-friendly coding class introduces students to the exciting world of programming in a fun, approachable way. Designed for kids and teens with little to no prior experience, this course builds a solid foundation in coding logic, problem-solving, and digital creativity.
In this class, students will:
- Learn basic coding concepts like loops, variables, and conditionals
- Use block-based coding platforms (like Scratch or Code.org) to build games and animations
- Explore how coding applies to real-world technology
- Gain confidence in thinking logically and creatively
- Work on individual and group projects that showcase what they’ve learned
Lessons are hands-on and engaging, with plenty of room for exploration and creativity. Students will be guided step-by-step and encouraged to learn at their own pace in a supportive, collaborative environment.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to try something new!
About the Instructor
Joseph Ssempala is an accomplished software engineer, entrepreneur, and technology educator. Originally from Uganda, Joseph immigrated to the United States with a passion for innovation and a drive to create meaningful solutions through technology.
He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Utah Valley University and has worked for leading tech companies, including Oracle. With years of hands-on experience in enterprise software development, Joseph later founded his own technology company, where he designs and builds custom software solutions for a wide range of clients.
In addition to his professional work, Joseph is a dedicated mentor to graduate students pursuing degrees in computer science. He provides guidance, support, and real-world insight to help the next generation of developers navigate their academic and professional journeys.
Joseph brings a unique blend of technical expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and a global perspective to everything he does. He is passionate about empowering others through technology, education, and mentorship.
